A Bit About Me
My name is Malina Saval and I am a photographer, journalist and book author. Photography is my happy place and it’s a skill and passion that I inherited from my late grandfather, Papa Sam, who bought me my first camera—a Kodak point-and-shoot—when I was a little kid heading off to sleepaway summer camp and wanted a way to capture that experience. Style & Work
Papa Sam was a photographer who specialized in portraiture and weddings—some of my favorite photos I have are the ones he took of me and my two little brothers. I still have the old school Konica Papa Sam later gifted to me when I became adept enough at using manual mode; I will forever love analog. The thrill of bringing a roll of film to get developed and not knowing exactly what you’ll get back—I still love that.
